Well guys, I'm throwing in the towel on this project. It's taking too much of my time that I should be spending with my wife and baby girl, and it's all that's on my mind, keeps me from sleeping, stresses me out, etc. I'm waiting on a couple of quotes to come back from local body shops, just going to bite the bullet and find someone to finish it for me.

Thanks
Picked a shop, they are going to get started on it this coming week. I'll be taking the truck down in pieces, going to cost me about $3200 on top of the $1200 I already spent. Oh well. Lesson learned for next time, lol.

gotta give you props for trying its allot of work and more time than not people Keep going , spend more and more money and end up frustrated I think your making the right choice taking it to a shop it looks like you doing a really nice job with the prep it should look super nice when done . fish eye problems are a bitch to chase down they can be caused by a number of things not just surface contamination things in the air such as armoral on on a tire that air blows across or even the wrong oil in your compressor . fish eye eliminator is used as a last resort all you doing is adding silicone and it makes the paint want to tighten up not flow so you end up with allot of texture in you finish

Yeah they quoted me an additional 50 hours to finish it, I figure triple that number and that's about what it would take me. No way I have the time or patience to finish it, lol. I have a new respect for painters now, I had no idea it took this much to get a nice finish on a vehicle.

The quote I got was for gloss black. I'm going to ask about Hot Rod Black when I get there in the morning. I keep getting hung up on regular gloss black, it'll look like just another black truck. Matte black will at least be a little unique. Also decided I'm going to do a cowl hood.
Loaded up and read to go to the body shop in the morning.
