Default tire question

My Denali sits about or a tad bit higher than a stock height Z71 truck
I was wondering if anyone knew how tall of a tire I could fit using a stock 17x8 Denali rim? Right now I have 275/55/20 on them which equates to 31.9"
With that tire height, I still have a lot of open fender available.

This is what it looked like with the 17" rims on a 265/75/17 tire which is 32.6"

Main question is, do you think I can fit a 33" tire on them with those stock rims? Looks like it to me, what do you guys think?

I have seen 305/70/16 put on a stock rim but was told that was the widest that should be put in it. That was on a 2001 Z-71 with the torsion bars maxed out.

Yeah, I had been told before that a 295 was the widest that could go on a stock rim. 33's would be pushing it. What width tire? There is plenty of wheelwell room on these trucks, however what you have to watch is the turning radius. This is really what kills the tire size availability.

For Instance, I was running a 295-75-16 and 9" wide Centerlines on my 01 Ram and the Ram has a hair more room at the front wheels than does the GM's and under hard turns, I would rub the inner wheelwell. Had plenty of room otherwise. I have seen some of the Silvy/Sierra guys who run larger tires that have to trim the lower air dam just a little to have more room.

Good luck with the transformation though. I don't think I've ever seen a Denali lifted with all terrain meats. Should look mean. Oh, and you'll love the Terra Grapplers

I 'think' that with the torsion raised to max, and possibly a lil trimming of the fender plastic a 295-70-17 Nitto should work

Thanks Todd, that was the exact Nitto size I had in mind which come out to a tad bit taller than 33"
I guess I'll wait to get the lift put on before I buy the tires
