Default Tire pressure sensor ???s

Heres the story. I just bought a 07 NBS Silverado with 17" steel wheels. I have a set of Centerline Stingrays I would like to put on. While at the tire store I asked the salesman if they can take the sensors out of the 17s and put them on the 20s when they mount the new tires. He told me that the Centerlines are not TPS friendly and showed me a picture of some TPS sensors that were valve stem mounted (inside the wheel as part of the valve stem). As he explains it the valve stem on the wheel needs to be at least 45 degrees to the wheel barrel to protect the sensor should you have a flat. I agree with every thing he was saying for that type sensor but I would like to know if that is how these sensors are mounted on these wheels? The reason I question if this is the same part that is exposed on the 17" wheels is nothing like the part that would be exposed on the picture he showed me. Anybody have a pic or have seen the sensors to tell me whats up? He was trying to sell me some new wheels by the way...

they are mounted with a nut that screws onto the back of the stem...everything he told you is correct...you cannot run sensors and will ahve to deal with the light

i've got 20" centerlines from my 04,
i ordered 4 sensors for the wheels rather than swapping them out because i will run the oe 17's in the winter and don't what to be changing the sensors twice a year
i was intending on installing them tomorrow
the valve stem on my c/lines mount inside the wheel behind the spokes almost to the center of the wheel.. i think these should be ok.
what is the issue, the tire changing gear? flat tires?
is the od of the valve stem the same?

i would be EXTREMELY impressed if they work with those wheels. They suaully only work with factory wheels. You are however are going to ahve two every time you change the rims ahve the sensors recalibrated

Yes for the salesman it wasn't an issue if they could be installed or not. He's sayin that if you had a flat it would wipe out the sensor.

yah they would wipe them out. Because of the required design of the sensors sansd rolled lip...thats why i am very spectacle. Please let me know how it goes tho..take a pic of the sensors so people will know what they need

i bought a different set of wheels and they have the valve stem mount in the stock location rather than near the centre of the wheel.
i didn't change wheel for that reason, i wanted a different backspacing and tire size combo for the 07
I think bgray is right about the c/lines, if you get a flat you will wipe out the sensor, which isn't the end of the world, just get another one.
i bought an extra set of sensors so i won't have to sway them back and for for winter/summer wheels, if you are in el paso you probably don't need 2 sets of wheels.

i'm sure the sensors will work for you, get another tire shop to try and fit one to see how it goes.
I can see a tire shops reluctance to jump on the job, he will spend a couple of hours, tie up a man, hoist , tire changer and balancer. and still not sell you anything. he will take the sensors out of one set of wheels and install them on another and make not much $, it's not a quick simple job.
that's another reason i got an extra set of sensors.

it will work but tire will be a pain to install.
