Tokez: You're HIDs are in your stock headlamps?
Is that the 9006 or 9005 base?
How much would you want that HID kit for?

I wonder how things would go if you purchased the projector kit from www.procarparts.com and an aftermarker HID light kit that includes the bulbs and ballast? Would the beam pattern be correct? Or would I blind oncoming traffic?

Everytime I read about someone getting aftermarket headlamps, they complain about how they either melted and/or the light output is shittier than the stock headlamps.

Eek, not good Never heard that though about aftermarket stuff... I have heard about people putting in higher wattage bulbs and burning harnesses and stuff though.

There should be no problems with running HID bulbs in stock headlights. HID capsules do not get that hot. They run surprisingly cool. Feel a headlight housing running halogens versus an HID bulb. The halogen will be pretty hot compared to the HID. The ballasts consume very little power while on. Only time they take alot of power is when thet first ignite the xenon gas in the capsule. Im running a Misterjungs kit in my truck and have no complaints. Had to aim my lights down just a tad. But other than that, I really like them. Beats the hell out of halogens thats for dam sure! I went with a 5200K capsule. Almost went with 7000K but they are too purple for me. I wanted a nice clean crisp white and thats what I ended up with. Depending on what kit you go with, do not get cheap ballasts! My advice is to shy away from the kits with external ignitors and all that crap. They are bad news. Get an all-in-one ballast! Hella and Phillips are about the best ballasts you can get.

I read about HIDs on another truck forum, and some guy was saying how the stock headlamp wiring is not enough if you get HIDs. You need a bigger ga wire because even though the wattage is lower, the voltage is higher and the stock wiring cannot keep up.
Anybody know anything about this?

YOu will need to run a primary wire directly to the battery to supply the ballast/igniter with its own supply, but other than that the oem wires would be sufficient. Most of the kits out there have their own plug and play harnesses that come with them so nothing to upgrade. The HID kits work outstanding in all the cars we have installed them on (many gm models) and have had no complaints or problems whatsoever. I believe that once you have had these in your vehicle, you would never go back to halogens or even regular projectors--there simply is no comparison.

all those aftermarket projectors for our trucks suck! they use fog type projectors. they just dont give out enough light. this one guy on FSC said it was worse with HIDs

HIDs run at 35 watts, REGULAR halogen run at 55 watts. now when the HIDs ignite then they take a lot of voltage but only for a sec....not enough to melt anything
