Road paint on my truck
#23
I used gas, it came off, most of it, but i got tired of messing with it. that's some work damnit. i'm not sure if the gas messed up my paint, or if i just have some of the white paint smudged there. i'ma try it with some DW-40 tomorrow, and see if that works out. I got about half of it off though, so that's good. Thanks for all the info. I hope my clear coat isn't messed up.

Gasoline works wonders on alot of things, and will not take the paint off unless you go crazy with it. That's what I use for getting tar off my truck, and it doesn't hurt anything. Do not use the oven cleaner. It's like using a paint stripper. The film that you are seeing is prolly the residue from either the paint from the road or the gas. Keep checking your rag to make sure you don't see any paint from your truck. From what you have done so far, and when you get the rest off, use some non-grit rubbing compound and polish it. The rubbing compound will help bring the luster back and help clean the area. I hope you took some pics of it, and sent them to the state. When your all done, then take it and have it detailed to show them the bill.

Ok, I brought it to a body shop. Only charged 275, so not too bad. It looks good now, and I didn't have to mess with it. My paint and clear coat are fine. Thanks for all your advice guys. Just gotta get a good wash and wax now and i'll be alright.
