onyx_silverado,

i'm not sure what the backspacing is on the newer SS wheels, i don't think they tuck though as they kinda sit flush with the fenders (at least on the few SS's i've seen in person)

to run a 275/45/20 tire on an 8.5" wheel you will need 6" of backspacing, on an 8" wheel you will need 5.5" of backspacing to run that tire.

My centerlines only have 5" backspacing on an 8" wide wheel so i had to run my 40 series tires to avoiding rubbing with the 4/6 drop.

Any clue on the specs of the SS wheels?

That is the offset of the rims from the center of the hub. It determines how a certain wide rim will fit in alignment with your truck. On a 8.5" rim like mine 5.5" backspace from the back of the rim to the face, makes the rim flush with the body, where 5", would be a little in from the body and so forth and so forth. If you run 9" rims, 6 inches of backspace would be flush, if you run 8" rims, 5 inches of backspace would be flush on Chevy and GMC trucks.

Be carefull with tire size on the DJM suspension. Nice as hell ride, but a lot more bounce in that suspension, that could cause some rubbing. My friends truck has DJM and he runs 285/65/16s on his, and he rubs all the time over big bumps. But then again when you drive normal their is no problems, and his truck rides so damn nice too.
