Default Quick Paint Question

I'm looking to smooth and paint my tailgate handle and I was wondering if there was a specific type of spraypaint that would match my trucks color. I have a 2000 silvy with Onyx Black paint. I finally learned how to paint and I'd much rather paint my handle instead of having to buy one or take it somewhere and get it painted. Thanks in advance.

If your looking to spray paint it, go to Auto Parts store or even Walmart and get some Auto Paint in the touch up section. I believe it is made by Duplicolor. They have a factory base black (DSGM1cc, requires clearcoat) and clearcoat (DS125) that will work. Here is what I did when I painted my textured mirrors.

How To

Paint Info

Hope that helps.

How ever many coats of primer you need, sanding inbetween than 2 to 3 coats of paint sanding again than clear.

220 grit paper and sand it real good because it will not stick like it is. Then get you some primer and lay it down on it make sure not to run it. Then let it dry the amount of time it says on the can probably a little longer. Get some 600 grit sand paper wetsand it down smooth. Repeat until texture is gone. Clean off handle good with a cleaner. Paint and clear.
