Default Not happy w/ KMC wheels, considering Centerline

I bought a set of KMC wheels a few weeks back. At first I liked them, but now I'm not so sure.

Here's a pic of the wheel: http://www.gotwheelsandtires.com/cat...seat-Black.jpg

They are 20x9.5 and running a 285/50/20 sumitomo tire.

My first problem is the backspacing, while they look nice and I love the black, they stick out about 1/2'' too far. This just looks funny to me from certain angles.

My other beef is that the wheel/tire combo weighs in at 86lbs a piece. This is on the heavy end of the scale for sure...i've heard a 20" Centerline with the same tire weighs under 60 lbs. Anybody with Centerlines confirm this?

I really want to do the hotckis 2/4, and with the way the wheels stick out of the fender wells, I don't think it will look right.

Any advice would be appreciated.

edit: snapped some quick pics to help out http://community.webshots.com/user/fubar123321

This is partially your fault for not ordering the right backspacing...

Ya I had a friend hook me up...he ordered them straight from KMC. He owns his own wheel and tire shop...so you think he would know what he was doing. I guess not.

I doubt that is the case with the same tire. I have centerlines with a 275/35/20 and they weigh about 55lbs. With that big of a tire I would think they would be over 60 for sure. Could be wrong though, so maybe someone with that wheel/tire combo can confirm.

IMO, the truck doesn't look bad with them sticking out just a little, however I think it could look better. What are your future plans with the truck, lift, lower or stock?

My Centerlines with 265/50/20 weigh 63 lbs each.

If you are planning on dropping it in the future, you need to at least get smaller tires or else you are going to have crumpled fenders when you go over bumps.

Based on the tire size and backspacing, your wheel and tire combo looks like it would be better off on a Tahoe or 'Burban.

Thanks for the comments guys. My future plans are to drop it 2/4 with the Hotchkis kit.

Tdrumm, I think you have a great looking truck there. What is the backspacing on your Centerlines?

I think I will definitely be changing the wheel tire combo. With almost 90 lbs on all four corners, handling, acceleration, and braking are all pretty sluggish.

Thanks for the compliments. My wheels are 20X8 with 5" of back space. It puts the edge of the tire just about flush with the edge of the fender. They don't have enough backspacing to tuck with a 4/6 drop so I'd have to run a much shorter tire. I think a 255/45/20 will work.

I like the rims, but it's a shame that they stick out like that. I think a different offset and/or a shorter tire would help out though!

This is not good being that i ordered these same rims but in a 22X10 with a 285/35 on all four corners. Looks like im going to run into the same problem. Guess ill find out either today or tomorrow. If thats the case back they go.

Mcduffys, hopefully you won't have the same problem as I did. But being 22x10 I bet you will. I guess this is what I get for being the first person with these rims. Just keep in mind that they will be very heavy. I wouldnt be surprised if 22s ran you close to 95 lbs or so, with tire.
