Default New Tires

Got my Pirelli Scorpion Zero 285/65/16 installed this morning. Still need to clean them up.

Thats a pretty unique size. They look good!!! I wonder if they have a size like that in 17s. How much do they run per tire?

Got them at tirerack ->. You should be able to find them to see how much I paid and available sizes. Plus another 60 for shipping and another 60 to have mounted and balanced. After all that, I still saved about 80 bucks by not ordering them through local distributor.

Nice looking tires. When I was shopping for tires, I was interested in those tires and the Toyos. Tire height was the deciding factor for me. BTW, I always thought your truck was silver. I think I've seen you on Dorchester and Rivers before. At least I know what to look for now! Do you have any other pics of your truck?

Wish I would have found those before I bought my Falkens. Look good man, how's the ride and handling feel compared to stock tires? My Falkens are a little on the high side, feel a little unsettled in corners because of the deep thread and higher sidewalls.

I came from Falkens on a 255/65/16. They were way too narrow. Yes, my Falkens were also a little unsettling around corners. They had that floating effect. I have only put about 100 miles on them so far. I have a slight vibration between 50 and 60. I will be taken them back for further balancing.

Since they are wider, they do have a tendency to track the ruts in the road a little. But, I think that is just the nature of a wider tire. Although I have not really tested them, I can tell cornering is better by just whipping the steering left and right.

Rolling into the throttle traction has improved. I still spin in the upper rpms, but for not as long. Dropping a few psi in the back should help also.

I will snap a few more pictures when I wash the truck and get them coated with some armour all.

I have a set of 255/65-16 General UHP's that I got... I can definitely say that they are too narrow... I'll be looking at some of those 285's next time around... I break these things loose at almost any reasonable speed where you'd think you'd have traction....

I know what you mean, especially with having 4.10 gears.

I checked the pressure in each tire last night. One front was at 42, the other at 40. One back was at 40 and the other 38. I set them all at 38 and the vibration has almost disappeared. I am really liking these tires.

I might just have to take these to the track this Friday and see how they hook.

I'm going to Lowcountry Dragway too. Friday is truck race night. The only thing that will stop me is work related stuff.

I think my neighbor wants to go. I should get my kitchen pass. I wouldn't mind at least doing the test and tune. I am too unfamiliar with my setup right now to be consistent.

Pre gears, current tires, and tune, I was consistent in times and probably run, if it was bracket based. The last time I went was right after gears and custom tune that needed tweaking. I couldnt catch traction and shift was hitting rev limiter. I went from consistent 9.5s to 10.2+.
