Default New Ride!

I wouldnt quite qualify it as a performance truck just yet, but its a start. 2003 Sierra, 4.8l with 164,000 miles, auto, 1 owner vehicle. Its got a few scratches and dings, but I'm hoping thatll add to its sleeper style. I've been lurking on here for a while and scored a pretty good deal on this one and I'm stoked to get started.

Plans Include:
*3/6 or 4/6 drop
17 inch police tahoe rims / cragar style black rims
front and rear hotchkis sway bars
cal tracs
detroit trutrac
*rebuilt/built 4.8 or ???
turbo
mild converter
4l80e
and a few cosmetic things here and there

Just want to say thanks to all of you who have inspired me and for all the questions you've answered so far. I have a feeling I might be sending a few more your way.

Also, if you have any suggestions on the drop size/kit/manufacturer or engine (marked by the * above) please send them my way. This is going to be a lightly driven DD and I'm looking to make it handle, be reliable, and be a pretty quick street truck. Hoping to make 500 hp.

No need to build the 4.8. Boost it as planned and kick some ***!

I would just boost the 4.8 till it dies. What is the overall condition of the motor? Have you done a compression test etc. to see what its health is?

No, i have not done a compression check yet. Drove it home from the dealership yesterday and it felt pretty good. Will do a compression check next weekend. If I would boost it as is, I would plan on doing LS7 Lifters, hardened pushrods, ARP Head bolts, LS9 head gasket, LS6 springs, LS9 cam, and a trunnion kit. Anything else big that you can think of? Would it be recommended to change my timing chain? Thanks for the help, I'll keep ya posted
