Need some ideas. Since I had a big section of paint come off my hood a while back, I got the idea of paintin it myself. Ive painted my race cars and our work trucks in the past so I have a little painting experience. Ive done got 90% of the hood down to the primer/metal, didnt plan on takin all the paint off the hood but the more and more I sanded the more paint was peeling/flaking off, so Ive gotten hood almost down to the metal. One of my buddys dad used to have a body shop and still has all of his paint so Im just going to have him mix somethin for me. Now down to where I need some ideas on what color and any design I should paint it. i love matte black but i dont think it looks good on these trucks. maybe arctic white with matte black racin stripes down the hood and top? hell some one throw me some ideas

 

red w/ matte black stripes? or silver ? i like both

 

I wouldn't do white with black stripes. It dates the truck, making it look older than it really is. If you do go back with white, paint the grill and bumper white as well. The black grill and black bumper pad on it currently make it appear to be unfinished. I think just painting those parts white, and adding a red or Hugger Orange bowtie and calipers would make it look like a different truck.

Well I, Think white is the easiest to take care of and looks clean . I may be biased.. What about a two tone black on white or vice versa?

 

I actually think your truck would look badass with your hood painted matte black, especially if you plan on keeping your black RT-S wheels. To be simple and original, I would consider some fender stripes like this truck:



They remind me of the ones you see on the 1996 Grand Sport Corvette. Just throwing around some ideas....

 

I want to do Matte Black myself. So thats what I'd go with but you cant go wrong with a simple 2-tone with a small stripe to break things up Garnet red/silver, Silver/black, Blue/white, Blue/silver are all good combos as well as others. What about matte black front end to tail gate, only the top surfaces, not down into the fender, then another color on the bottom? You'd have to work out how to blend the build line between the matte and gloss clear at the doors.

 

honestly -1 on the fender stripes yeeesshh, but really whatever makes you happiest, thought white if done right will make your truck look crazy clean ie, colour matched, mirrors and mirror caps, valance, upper bumper bad, grille with a billet bowtie, rear bumper plastics and tail gate cap. Would make on nice *** truck, is your hood a cowl hood? you could paint the top of the cowl flat black?

 

IMO id just paint it back white. and if your doing the grille and stuff etc. do that and be done with it...
