Ive come to the conclusion that my $25 Pep Boys one doesnt do **** and doing it by hand isnt as effective... what do you guys recommend?

Keep in mind I dont want something that will burn the clear coat or w/e if I leave it to long on the surface or hit it at a wrong angle on a curve cause I dont really know what im doing, so if I have to sacrafice RPMs I am willing to lol

IMO you only really need a high speed buffer if your going to be doing some paint work... A regular orbital buffer will work for keeping your truck polished and waxed... I have a craftsman 10" that works great!!

 

now that thing wont go so fast that it will burn the clear coat will it? I could probably pick one of them up at Sears huh?

 

I have been using that buffer for about 2 years... I have done my truck many times and my GF's car... As long as your not using a rather abrasive rubbing compound it wont burn the paint, which I don't know why you would be using it anyways, no need.... I use machine polish, swirl remover (body shop grade) and wax with it all the time... No problems what so ever

 

Oh and it is only like $50 from sears...

Seriously tho, I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for. I have a Milwaukee #5460 Polisher. It has 11 amps, adjustable speed 0-1750, slow startup feature so you don't fling stuff everywhere, auxiliary handle mount up front(changeable from L-R side), & a lockout to make pad/wheel changes a pc. of cake. Hope this helps. Nice ride too.
