I have a set of 99 tails that i have laying around and i have seen some online before "candied" and u dont even see the yellow on them but everything else looks great. does anyone know hows this is done since the yellow appears to be part of the diffuser/lens??? i have 03 tails now on my truck but wouldnt mind having this set done up for a diff look...

still confused as to how the yellow is removed unless its not and the paint just covers it so well that it looks red. the ones ive seen looked like the yellow was removed tho...

The yellow is painted over. First, you'd scuff/sand the taillight and tape off any parts you don't want painted. I did a set a long time ago that kept the reverse light and I've done sets where everything is red. I always had really good luck with Testors Candy Apple Red in a spray can. After it's done, let it fully cure and then sand it with 800-1500 sandpaper to level up the paint and to make sure the color is nice and even. If you are happy with how it looks, then it's time to spray clear coat. I usually used auto grade clear and a spray gun for the last step to prevent fading and to give a factory like finish.
Here are some examples of lights I've done in the past using the above method.

Hope this helps..
