Default Honest opinions on bolt-in roll pans?

I recently purchased my truck, and after browsing this forum, I have come to the conclusion that weld-in roll pans look far far cleaner than bolt-ins.

Give me your honest opinions on bolt-in roll pans.

I am not even sure if my roll pan is metal or fiberglass, but I'm very tempted to have it welded and smoothed.

What all is involved in terms of smoothing, painting, and blending?

ttt anyone? Upon recent review, I've come to the conclusion that my rolll pan is sort of "flat" looking!! This really irritates me.

Any opinions?

second vote for weld it. It is more $$$$ but looks better in the end. Any good body shop should be able to hook you up. Mine has been on over a year with no problems. Sir Mike's pan also. fitment and finish is awesome.

I checked the truck, the roll pan I have is METAL, not fiberglass. I was able to peel off a faded decal from the inside of the pan that said "1012276" ... "99-up Chevy/ GMC roll pan w/ box"

Does this part # look familiar to anyone?

Found out from the help of board members (thanx) that I do indeed have the Sir Michael's pan. This thread, as well as another, has made me realize that welded roll pans do, in fact, look far superior.

I have ordered a tailgate handle relocation kit, and will get the roll pan welded at the same time ... yay!

I like the welded look way better!

I really can't afford to run something like that here. Indiana drivers don't use their brakes very well, and that's coming from a life-long resident
