Default High Performance tires..

I have been looking a few days the past 2 weeks for new tires for my truck. Found a good deal on some FEDERAL COURAGIA S/U high performance tires with H speed rating (130mph).

The tires have the V tread pattern that is tried and true which some rather expensive tires have the same design.

What do you guys think? It is for the stock 16" wheels that come on nbs silverados. I have looked and it is rather hard to find "performance" tires for stocker wheels. I know a few others out there, but they are usually expensive.
The only tire to come somewhat close to the Federal tire would be something like the Pirelli Scorpion STR tire. The Pirelli tire isn't the same design, actually worse design and still isn't a performance tire and costs $50 more per tire..

I can get the Federal tires for like $560 shipped.. So Guess I will be the guinea pig on pt.net and report back. Just got my tax return today and prob going to order a electric cutout too.. I know guys from other forums rave about federal tires.

Federal is a low end tire but they might work out alright for you.

Why are you looking for such a high speed rating? You relize the speed rating is the fact that tire can go that speed for(I believe) 30 min continuosly.

Mainly wanted an all around better performance tire vs oem type standard tires.

FALKEN ZIEX S/TZ-04 tire looks pretty decent also.

Too bad I can't get nitto tires, as I have the 16" wheels. The nittos start at 17" wheels and goes up.

Ah chit, I have a hard time making decisions on rubbers. So many to choose.

Nittos are awesome and can be found in a 16 if you look hard enough. I love my hankooks. Most people agree the RH06 is one of the best value tires out there. I love mine for sure. Also 17" stock wheels look great and can be had for about $100 for all four if you cruise CL.

I had falken S-TZ and they sucked it was what came on my tahoe when I bought it. Had 90% tread and slid in the a lot! Never drove them in the snow because I sold them and got my 20s. I don't recomend falken.

Those Federal tires will wear fast/uneven and probably separate the belts before you get much life out of them. There's plenty of other tires out there for the same amount of money. Hankooks are moving up in the low/cost but quality tire.

What about the General Grabber UHP tire? I see lots of good reviews on that tire and its affordable.

Grabber UHP

Found a size that would fit my rim. I like them.

I put the grabbers on my truck when I first got it because they were the cheapest tire. I did a lot of burnouts but the didn't last me very long. With decent tread and only 2 inches of snow my rclb 2500 wouldn't hardly move with them on the rear. I didn't have any weight but they sucked. I hear mostly good about them but I wouldn't recomend them. The cooper that was posted is a nice tire, and if you can find Mastercraft, they are the same as cooper. It would be the HTR+ I think, great tire and low cost.

Coopers and Toyo's have treated me well.
