Default having wheels Re-chromed?

I have a set of four 22X10 wheels that I would like to send out to be re-chromed. They are approx 5 years old and are in decent shape but they are scratched up and generally dull looking. I have attached a picture of them.

These wheels have been discontinued and instead of buying a new brand/style I would like to have these refinished.

Can anyone recommend a HIGHLY reliable and reputable place to have this done? I already got a few quotes and they seem to be all over the board. Once place i got a quote for about $900 and another place quoted me close to $1600. I have had some communications with http://www.calchrome.com/ and they seem to be on the "up and up".

Any suggestions? Anyone ever have this done before?

Re-chroming is almost as costly as the original job. The better plating shops tend to be in southern California as most of the actual labor is done accross the border

Paul's chrome by far the best chrome I've ever seen please stay away from the west coast there chrome sucks I've dealt with alot of companies there and learned the hard way i customize sport bikes busa, gixxers and these guys are the best hands down its all about the prep of the wheel the sanding polishing of the base metals before the chrome is applied or you will see all that thru the chrome i believe cali also cant use some type of chemical that the east uses i believe good luck

He's right as far as the chemicals go, California has some of the toughest enviromental regulations. Not necessarily a bad thing for humanity but makes getting a good plating job more difficult and expensive.
That's why a lot of the best chromer's are on the border

Trever is exactly right.. Also the fact is when you pay this kinda money it could be hit or miss.. There are few and far reputable chroming places left.. We have always had good luck with a place down south called Tri City Plating, Pauls, Librandi's Plating.. Havn't had anything done in a few years, but last set of bumpers we had done for dads 1955 lincoln were close to 3500 . but it was indeed nicce..

well cheap work is never good and good work is never cheap- but sometimes people are just a*sho*es and just want to fu*k u. um.. i will pm you with a place later but i have been in the wheel business for almost 8 years and to have that job done right will take some time and money to do. all those plastic rivets have to be taken out and replaced. Then you will have to send the wheels to be stripped down to the bare metal (NO HEAT STRIPPING! it will damage the wheel no joke i have seen it many times) You may also want to have the wheels checked local as well to make sure they are perfectly round before sending out that way if they arent go ahead and have them fixed before you rechrome them. with that said some people skip on the plating sometimes to cut cost and to make more money so always keep that in mind. also some times the chrome will not stick to the metal after being rechromed make sure the company will stand by what they sell you.

to do them right youre probably looking at around $300+ per wheel...and yea CA blows for chrome plating...
Now if you put the money towards a set of billet wheels, you can always clean/polish to factory new, with lots of elbow grease, plus it will give your truck an updated look

if im not mistaken, Alex - rdrs4lf (?) is selling his billet wheels, plus he had them cleared, so they're easy to keep clean

Thanks for all the info guys, i think i'm going to talk to Paul's and see what they have to say since they're local and that will save me a ton of money on shipping.

Dave - i've considered a "new look" but i cannot find a wheel that i like more than the ones i have now and i HAVE to have chrome - its the look I love. Plus, my budget for this is slim and i doubt i can find a new set of 22's for $1200
