Guage Replacement Cover!!!
#1
Guys, I just bought some of those white guage covers (escalade style). I'm hearing they're hard as hell to put on.....A couple of shops won't even mess with it... Anyone done this to their trucks and got any advice for me!
Thanks!

Best thing to do is start the tuck and let it get up to normal temps. Drive around a while whatever....
Take a picture of the gauges while running at idle right before you turn it off. Need a digital camera for this.
Take out gauges and folow the instructions in the package.
Reinstall and get truck back up to temp and install needles at the prope places in the pic. Don't press all the way down until they are reading where they need to be, then press down to secure.
If your truck has power locks, they will auto lock at 16mph. Reinstall your speed needle at the time they lock and check a few times. If it does not have power locks, you have to know what RPMs and speed your going at the same time.

I would say rather than doing like Fast4.8 said ... make sure the truck is cold, turn the ignition on, but don't start it. This will make sure everything is at rest. The only fault then would be the fuel gauge. That one would be easy enough to remember though.
I think the small gauges actually have a stop on them, you could try that on the fuel gauge before you pull the needles off.

i have done it before. it is not that bad. i pretty much agree with everyone here. take pics before doing it, try getting them with the truck off, another one with the key in the run position, and then with the truck warmed up. this way you will have all angles covered. i forgot to take a pic so i had to guessimate. i put all the needles back on with the truck off. i put the tach and speedo on with the needle resting on that pin. not sure when i put all the others on. everything is pretty accurate now except for my oil pressure. don't push the needles back on all the way because they may have the tendency to rub or get caught on the overlay. i put my gas gauge needle on after i filled the tank. it works pretty good, the message center says i have low fuel at about 1/8 tank or so. so i know it is working well. as for the speedo. i thought the doors are supposed to lock 15 MPH not 16. i know you can have this option/program turned on or off. i know some guy who hated that his doors would lock at 15 mph, so he took it to the dealer and the reprogrammed it. your kit should come with directions. it is pretty easy to remove the bulbs. hardest part is trying to pull the needles off. they are on there good. he is a pic of mine
