As others have said, the natural body lines flow better this way.

In my opinion it was a lot more work than should have been needed on a new hood or maybe im just picky.
It was really that bad, huh? I'm surprised. Was it wavy in areas? Dents?

Most of the high places you can still see is from the foam where the sheet metal is glued to the framing. It had on very small dent from shipping it really was no big deal to fix. But the areas to either side of the cowl in the rear where low the drivers side more so. Some of the crimping is a little jacked too just wasnt what i expected for a new hood but some people may not care or even notice the waves i just wanted my hood to be smooth and flat in all areas so the paint will look better in the end.

Hopefully I have better luck with it... I dont want it to look like crap, but I certainly don't have the skill or patience to do what you did.

Mine wasn't that bad when I got it. It only had 1 dent on the side.

You will probably be fine im sure i have talked to other people that said there hoods didnt need much before paint. Its all in how straight you want your panels im painting the whole truck so i want avery panel as smooth and straight as possible. Besides if your paying someone to paint it let them worry about the body work.

That looks awesome. It's definitely the route I'm going to take.
