I agree! An old school trick to get out sags and runs is 2" masking tape!!! You can actually peal off a piece of tape and lightly apply it to the run or sag and then peal it off. Respray that area afterwards and it greatly reduces the run/sag... Wetsanding will take care of the rest.

Looks like your project is going to turn out very nicely. And even if their are flaws your most likely going to be the only one that will notice them.

I'll get the last pictures up then go back and talk about the responses.

Got 2 good wet coats of clear on it. Plus the original tack coat. Go in to snap the pictures and there is a damn fly laying on it.

Pull him out and touch it real quick with another spot of spray...

Anyway it really doesn't look to bad. Dust and the fly. It might actually work out with the wetsanding and buffing. We will see. Two things come to mind with the project right now. 1> My booth didn't perform to well. It did keep the stuff out of the garage for the most part but there was to much dust floating around. Got worse the further I went. 2> I didn't get the final sanding right. Didn't see them till I got color on it. Still a very good learning experience. I'll do better nest time.

Dry spraying is where the paint actually starts to dry before it hits the panel...

Primer will last a couple of days, fully mixed paint will last about 12-24 hours... At my parents where I usually do most of my big paint jobs, my father has a fridge in the garage... I like using jars, cause they seal well...
1 quart of base color. The primer went on pretty wet. I wouldn't call it dry. About 12" from the panel. It was dry on the uprights kind of from the over spray bouncing to it. But then again I'm a laymen. I might take a class on spraying at a tech school or something. Without anybody that knows what they are doing I can't say how well the gun was adjusted.

Good tip on the primer storage!

Well I'm disappointed somewhat. I really didn't expect it to be perfect. It was going pretty smooth till the color. Scratches and dust. At least I didn't have major issues I read about. Fish eye, lifting, runs etc... so yeah I'm pretty happy.

And, depending on where those 2 lites @ top of your booth were before u put them there, hopefully u wiped them or blew off.
Dust in paint, the suspects:
-On the painter,
-on what u r paintin
-in the environment, on surrounding crap, or floatin around, w/ potential to contaminate one's work.

Also, I'm w/ Black, be proud. Don't worry on little dust nib. Even a run or sag. It's part of learning. U don't have a downdraft booth, so no worries. Even then, **** happens. It's all in the prep. Mistakes happen...not just in painting. If u ain't makin a mistake, how are you going to learn?
3 good coats of color and 1 tack. I did concentrate on good form. Flat wrist and keeping the spray pattern hitting the panel flat. I did use tac cloth between the color coats. It picked up a lot of stuff.

Looks great!! Very little orange peel, job well done, you should very proud!!! When are you going to start wet sanding the clear? Word of advice don't wet sand near the edges or ridges, keep about 1/2 an inch away from them to prevent burn threw the clear, same goes for buffing..

To prevent Fish-eyes, pick up a bottle of Flow-ease Fish Eye Remover, a couple of drops in your paint or primer and it prevents them...

Keeping my fingers crossed. I'm the one that counts when it comes to noticing flaws

I'll let it dry overnight. Tear down the booth and such tomorrow evening after work. Might start sanding tomorrow evening. If not day after tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips. I will be very careful with the buffing and such.
I'm friggin beat!

Thanks Dustin. Getting to post up a couple more pictures... It might actually color sand up and turn out nice enough. Not seeing the scratches now.

Couple better pictures. There was still a haze in the booth with the others.

After seeing this picture I had to go back and look at the hood. Crap on the side is reflection
