Wet sanding will clean up the little stuff thats left. IMO your paint job might end up with less orange peel than the factory How does the color compare to the truck?

Keeping my fingers crossed. I know wet sanding will do wonders. The match is close. Won't really be able to tell how close until I put it on the truck. Before starting it wasn't a perfect match from the body shop. If its as good as the other things I've painted with paint from Automotive Touchup it will be perfect.

 

I know i have faith.

That looks really good, especially for your first time. Painting is something I've been wanting to pick up as well.

What grit paper are you going to use when you wetsand? I would go with Meguiars Unigrit and one of their flexible sanding blocks. I've used 3m sandpaper before and I've been left with tracers much deeper than their rated grit. Even when keeping the sandpaper lubricated, flushing it often and changing sheets a lot...... Since you have a Porter Cable DA I would finish with 3000 grit so the sanding marks will be easy to remove. Just a suggestion......

Was planning on wet sanding the clear with 2000 but you are right the orbital with foam pads make for a lot of buffing. I'll pick up some 3000 and try it.

I am curious as to how I got such deep scratches in the primer. I guess I let the paper get to loaded. Lesson learned.

Got the garage cleaned up and things back in place. Got the hood in its spot for the sanding and buffing. The more I look at it the more confident I am that I will be able to make it slick.

I did screw up and not go around the bottom edges real well. My solution is to mask it up and go around the very edge with some of my spray can color and clear.

I think its one of the best do it youself paint jobs I ever seen, especially for a first time attempt, I couldnt have done 1/4 aswell, looks great!!
