Looking good man, personally I use 1200 then 1500, compound will take out the rest... Just remember stay off the edges and your will do fine. If you start seeing red in the water then you have gone to far...

Thanks. So close. Now to just finish it up without screwing it up.

Hahaha Honestly first time I've ever sprayed with a paint gun. I've done a little bit of body work here and there. I'm attributing the success I've had thus far to lots of research, the right products, descent equipment (Especially the spray gun) and good advise from guys here and elsewhere.

WOW man Ive been following this thread from the beginning but its finally gotten to me how great it looks especially for your FIRST TIME. Be sure to post plenty of pics once you polish all the sanding marks out. What products are you using for the correction? What machine? Im dying to see it like a puddle of tranny fluid on sawhorses!

Thanks so much for the comments. I'm a picture post ***** so no worries there. Pictures will be posted. Good, bad or fugly.

Going to buff with a Porter Cable orbital. Foam pads. Not yet certain which pads and such. I only have 3. I tried finding the 3m products that BlackGMC recommended and couldn't. Wound up with a Mequires detailing kit. Like 4 different levels of cut. I'm going to take it slow and start with the mid to light range of the polish and see how it goes.

Funny you mentioned the color. I forgot to bring up in the thread... Had paint in the gun and ready to shoot the first coats of color then remembered I hadn't changed the tip. Had to change them with color in the gun. Spilled a few drops here and there. Wife gets home sees them on the floor and thought I had cut myself badly. Looks just like blood on the floor.

Bunofasitch I am dragging. Mostly finished up the color sanding tonight. All the guys saying "if you get stuff in the paint don't sweat it, it will come out" were right. Dozens of fuzzies or what have you and a damn fly in the clear. Have come out with the color sanding.

Get down to the last foot of color sanding and come accross something that didn't. Felt hard. You can see clear down to the primer. I may touch it with some touchup paint and clear I have. May not.

If I feel like it I'll start buffing tomorrow. May take a day off.

when you take on a job you really take it on huh! The hood is probably the most visible part on a truck, I bet you can't wait to get it all buffed out and sit back and stare a while
