If you want to change the color of the backlight on your gauges, but dont know what all is involved here are the simplest instructions you can find.
Tools:
Small Flat Screw Driver
7mm Socket or Nut Driver
Time: About 20 minutes.
Results: Priceless

Step 1: Order 6 LED bulbs. You will need the 4 bulb 194s. WLED-B4
LED Ordering Page
Step 2: Order 6 Twist Lock Connectors
Twist Locks
Step 3: Take Dash Bezel Off

Step 4: Unscrew 4 7mm bolts holding cluster in the dash.

Step 5: Remove Gauges and unplug Harness.


Step 6: Use a small Flat Screw Driver to pop the clips off the gauge backing.

Step 7: Locate 6 bulb plugs, and Remove




Step 8: Plug new LEDS and new Twist locks
Before reassembling, make sure you plug the harness back into the cluster to make sure all lights are functional. Some LEDs have to plugged into the socket one way only or they will not work. If you have any that are not functional, just turn the bulb 180 degrees in the twist lock and it should work.

Its easiest to do this right before sunset, or else you will have a hard time seeing the lights during the day.

Hey can you still dim the lights with LED's as opposed to regular bulbs? I want to do something like that but I like to dim the lights when I drive long distances at night.

 

i would like to know if the lights will dim too. also does anyone know if theres a way to get the factory radio and ac that color?

 

i'd like to know too, b/c a few of the bulbs on my factory radio are burned out. Has this happened to any of yalls radios?

 

the dimmer works, but barely. The dimming action is very slight, not like stock. You can still turn the gauges all the way off, but really at night they are no distraction. I used to have some indiglo gauges on the stock cluster, plus my alpine monitor, talk about bright at night.

Im sure bay area will get some more twist locks in, but just give them time, or they might be available elsewhere but im not sure.

I have not taken apart the ac or radio lights to see what is involved, but i hear its a bit harder to do.
