Default Are front and rear door handles interchangeable?

My truck had the keyhole busted out of it in Memphis and I would like to replace the handle with one that doesn't have a keyhole on the driver's side so hopefully someone will not be tempted to break into the truck. Would a rear handle from a tahoe/yukon/crew cab be interchangeable with my front handle? I have heard that they will but I wanted to check to make sure.

They will fit, but I remember there was some modification to make them do so. Hopefully someone that has done this will post up

yeah they fit, almost a direct bolt on. when you order it, dont say rear door becuase chances are your going to get the rear (tailgate) door handle and that just wont work. .. but i know what your talking about, the rear side doors. when you get them and try to install them there is one stud that hits the door skin and a simple small round file (the size of a pencil -thats what i used) and notche the sheetmetal and covered the bare metal with finger nail polish. the notch hides behind the handle and is not visible to outsiders.

I ordered color matched door handles and removed the colored pull handle and replaced mine with the factory black textured one.. looked good...
there you go, the answer.

it will fit no problem. I did the same thing to my truck 5 years ago. No key holes looks way better.

How will you get in if your battery dies?

You can fill in the key holes with some filler and then paint over it. That's what was done on my passenger side. But not the driver side for the reason mentioned above.
