Default Front end paint job

Im wanting to paint the front end of my truck (the grill shell) and i was wondering where I can find the cheapest paintable shell. Does anyone have any idea? Also iv heard you cant paint over the ruffed grill that comes standard on the LS modles but i dont know if thats true with proper sanding. Which way am i better off going? Sanding or buying one? Anyone with experience in the matter?

I ordered mine without the chrome front grille so I could just paint it. A base model truck grille can be painted over no problem.

I bought the "black" grill of another truck on ebay. Just sanded it down some and sprayed it. Came out good. Makes a big difference on my Tahoe.
