Default Don't you just love free stuff.

I got run off the road twice in a weeks time. The first time took the driverside mirror and the drive through the ditch invited rear end noise. The second destroyed a rear tire and now my truck no longer has a working posi in the rear. Well, I had promised some parts to someone, so I delivered them. While I was there, I asked if they had any tires that might fit my truck, as they were cleaning stuff up. The responce was nothing that will fit your truck. So we began to chat and the subject of the new kevlar Goodyear Wrangler MT/R came up. I was informed they had a set I was welcome to, but they wouldn't fit my truck. I asked to see them, and I told them I would try to make them fit, and promised to return them if they didn't. They agreed, but I have to come back and give a report of my thoughts on the tires.

So here they are. LT285/75R18. That's a little over a 35 inch tall tire. So I need some 18 inch wheels. I get one criagslist and found these wheels

I like the design, but not for big tires. The price was right, and they included 2 nearly new tires and 2 good tires. So I should be able to sell the 6 matching tires and get some money back.

I got one wheel mounted. I have to say, it looks better then I thought. The center cap is ugly, and sticks past the wheels edge. So I might run the wheels with no center caps.

On the truck

Sorry for the crummy night pictures. I was rather surprised how little it would take to put the tires on my truck stock. After removing the front valance, and a small filler piece behind the edge of the bumper, a little notch on the bumper and inside the back of the fender and they would be on the truck and turnable. The rear has plenty of room. However, I want to give myself plenty of room. I am going to install a body lift, crank the torsion bars just a little for an inch of lift, and install a 1 inch lift block in the rear. I should be plenty good at that point. I could get away with nobody lift, and just crank the torsion bars hard. I don't want to start killing ball joints though.

I will be selling the wheels and 3 tires that are currently on my truck. I have 6 matching P245/55R18 Bridgestones of some sort, I believe Pretinza's or something like that. I will find out tomorrow.

Looks pretty damn good, crank the t bars and get some blocks for the rear and you got the cheapest lift/wheel/tire combo I've ever heard of!

No, if you buy these in a 35x12.50 they are 34.8, but in the LT285/75R18 they are 35.2. Feel free to hop on over to goodyear and verify. I already have already compared them to a couple 35's and they are a lot bigger.

Everywhere I have found these tires locally, in this size, they are $320 a tire. In the stock size for my truck, they were $270. So its over $1200 in tires, for free.
