Go to the dealership and have them replace your cables. Both my truck and my dad's truck had the problem and the dealership replaced no prob. A few months back I was told that the stainless steel cables were supposed to be in around July or so. HAH.

I just called the dealership and spoke with a service rep. She said they have the new stainless cables in, but I have to let them put them on. I'm going by this afternoon, so we will see.

dude I would talk to the dealership about thouse cables. They have to owe you a new roll pan for that faulty ****. The notice said not to step on it nothing about letting the tailgate drop.

mine have been broke for a loooooong time. i have the letter that most everyone recieved in the mail. everytime i feel like stopping by this hick *** GM dealership i get the same answer, "awe dang man, we just runned outta dem cables, come back in here tomaaara n see if we got any" this has gone on for a while. i think it is a conspiracy against me.

neway, mine broke while my wife was loading my 4 wheeler in the back of my truck. lucky i was there to catch her and the atv and throw both in the truck bed. can you say cracked skull???

btw, i am only talking about temp replacements. not the final replacements.
