I ordered my Centerlines yesterday, polished, not chrome. I asked if it
was ok to clear coat them and they said sure, but a lot of the result depends
on the quality of materials and skill of the person doing the work. A good job will last for many years, a poor job will last for a year.
Any one have any tips or pointers on this...

I also did them at home with the Eastwood Diamond Clear in rattle cans. DO NOT GO THIS ROUTE!!! Eastwood wasnt totally forthcomming about their product untill after I called their tech line. Apparently that product requires close to zero percent humidity or it will pull the humidity out of the air and hase before it cures. Hell even with the ac wide open, it was about 40% humidity in my living room where I ended up spraying them.
Now if you go to a professional paint shop and have a good automotive grade clear put on, I think you will be ok. I am also researching a clear powercoat since I also want to coat the new wheels I will be getting soon.

i would use a 3M grey scotch pad on them to scuff them up a little then put some adhesion promoter on them then clear with some PPG concept 2002 clear. this is what my body shop uses on vehicles. lifetime warranty on the clear.

I put your image in your post. That pic overwhelmingly exceeds the sig image limits.
