I agree. They look fantastic!

I actually think any of those CLEAR style taillights are the best ones to "candy" since the transparent Candy Apple paint really gets to work as it is designed. Even though I like mine a lot, I think if I can find some cheapo clear ones, I'll do a set and see how they turn out.

I was thinking the same thing tonight. I could always stick these in my other truck. They look awefully good though.

I believe red duplicolor metalcast paint should also work for candying taillights. Although I havent personally used it for that.

When I get some time, I am going to go talk to a friend that can custom mix any paint I want in a spray can. I am going to see what he can come up with similar to the testors.

I also want a slightly different shade or metalic content so I can ghost an imagine onto the lense. Testors has one that is a little more orange (transparent hotrod red), and they have a transparent black. I considered these, but decided for my first attempt just to keep it simple.

Just as an update, 7+ months later they still look as good as the first day I finished them.

No fade, no discoloring, no cloudiness....

Mine look horrible. They started flaking and fading within 2 months time. I think the rain that started in the middle of the paint drying killed them.

I'm going to candy mine with the red vht. After I get it smooth I'm having my buddy that owns a body shop spray some good clear on them so they look wet. I'll post some pics when finished. Good job o.p.

One thing to be aware of...I tried using a "real" clearcoat over the Testor's transparent red and it made it look like a frosted red glass. No idea if that will happen with the VHT stuff, but definitely suggest trying a test spray first, on some plexiglass or an old taillight, or something.

Thanks for the compliment by the way, and good luck.
