my tails are smoked very very dark and everyone that gets behind me says that they cant see the lights. Im wondering if i should sand them down and make them a little lighteror just get some brighter bulbs

You could always try and swap some LEDs into them. It is a much brighter more direct light.

I would try some LED"s from www.superbrightleds.com i believe you will be looking for the 3157's

Whatever you do, dont get any kind of hyperwhite higher wattage bulb. The cold get very hot and start distorting the lenses, like they did on my friends cougar after i tinted his tails.

I would say just sand them down also, that way you don't have to worry about any load capacitor's or any problems that might come with LED's. Hopefully you'll be lucky, when i sanded my last set of taillights back down to lighten them up, the paint started cracking, GL though.

This is why I don't like smoked tail lights. Most people that do it, don't bother to upgrade the lighting on them. Last set I seen, I could barely tell they had lights turned on.

It's fine as long as you upgrade to something brighter. You want to be visible quite a ways back and remember that you need to be seen during foggy days too.

ok guys im re-spraying the tails!! I sanded all the paint off them and it looks like it had been smoked 2 different times and the first time was almost perfect, then they went over that again and it was just so dark i couldnt stand it anymore. im also doing the 3rd light this time around. I'll get some pics tomorrow

also i had 1 reverse light out and both 194 bulbs out in the tails
