The drilled holes in the rotors leave them more prone to cracking(weak point) , on the street we see many variables, like the track, but we also have to dodge water also, hot rotors and water contact help the weakest part ( IE where the holes are drilled) to crack.

Heck ive seen road race cars that have cracked rotors after a race, but they need maximum cooling/ venting for their high perf. braking systems, so the drilled slotted are fine for them, but they replace them after every race.

Ive never seen or heard of a slotted rotor that has cracked on our trucks, and lots of guys here run just slotted rotors, so thats why i reccommmend them, I by no means am a Brake Expert.
lol thanks for the info Tim. that makes sense.

Also you could do the factory upgrade if you do not want to shell out alot of money. Tomorrow I will do the this swap, It will consist of 05+ front brakes, these are the ones that have bigger dual piston calipers due to the rears having drum brakes and most of the braking will require bigger calipers up front. The rears will be from a Tahoe or suburban. My truck came with single piston rear calipers, useing the ones mentioned will be dual pistons. You have to make sure that you get the ones with a heavier gvw. I have. If you search factory big brake upgrade or something to that affect you will find some info. Ill try to post up the link later.
