Body hammers and dollies
#1
I have a few dents in the bed of the dually that I want to get out before line-xing. Never used hammers/dollies before and am curious if this is something I could do. Any tips, tutorials, or good sites to get some info from? Which side do you hammer, and which side gets the dolly? Would a cheap starter set even be worth it? I see eastwood has a set under $40, but then all the other sets are $150+.
I checked with a body shop and was told $400-500 and that they may or may not be able to get everything out. With that I figured I could learn to do it myself and do just as good if not better. Any info about this is much appreciated. Thanks

Personaly I would go with a Stud welder to pull out the dents... I have used one before and they are great... when your done you grind down the studs and that is it... But you will need the puller too.

unlees they are really big dents most small dings cant even be seen after line-x. I had a couple in the bed of my truck and was worried that they would show but much to my surprise they didnt.

Appreciate it
Didn't think about those, might have to do a little research on them as well
Might have to give them a call and see what they say
A few small ones that probably wouldn't be noticable, but a few larger ones as well.

I had 2 small dings taken out of My Lexus by the Dent Wizard on Peachtree Industrial in Chamblee and they were cheap and did it quick.

If you use that a stud gun, get the smaller studs for it. When you goto grind the dent, only grind it for so long and take a break. Let it cool down basically, the metal is rather thin. When your ready for the stud gun, place it in center and pull the trigger. They give out an enormous amount of heat, so only apply for a few seconds. You'll need a sliding hammer. Put the sliding hammer on the stud and start pulling the dent, EASY! If the dent sucks back in, you'll need a hammer and start tapping the surrounding areas to help relieve that pressure.
how big is that dent? you might get away with it by grinding the spot down and wiping it with fiberglass resin.

2 or 3 of them are a decent size, most of the others are really small. I had been told by a few on the smaller ones I could get away with a little filler to smooth it out, but couldn't do it on the larger ones as the filler would be too thick.
