Default Attention you paint guys....

How do you paint black polymer? The plastic that creates things like Vent Visors and Bugshields? I want to paint them to match. Any help would be appreciated!

Same as painting plastic... Use a good adhesive promoter. I use one made by Krylon that's made for plastics and flexible objects. Bulldog is supposed to be pretty good too. Make sure you prep well, that's key. Use alcohol or paint thinner.

so no sanding or primer is needed. Just clean with alcohol, add the adhesive promoter then paint? Do I have that right?

from what I undertand, you are supposed to use a filler primer and sand it after each coat until you get a smooth surface..... for bumper caps and handles, etc, If you have smooth vent shades, I cant see why you would need to do the primer step.

Right, the surface should already be smooth. Sanding it down would be pointless as would primer.

I've never seen painted window guards before. There were some other people doing it, but they didn't post pics. I don't think it would look good, so you better post pics so I can eat my words...

you need to sand or it will peel. buy the clear ones and sand from the back side with a grey scuff pad. they will look like they have clear on them and will never chip.

I would sand it with some scotch brite pad, not the green agressive one, and then use something like bullyguard adhesive promotor

I had planned on getting one of those dull red scuff pads and doing just that. Thanks for the help.
