OK, I just got my putco punch grille insert, WITHOUT the "GMC" cut out. It fits like crap!!
The instructions say to remove the GMC (which I did), and then they suggested to cut off the
remainder of the emblem mount (this step was optional). Although I'm sure it will fit better, I would
rather not have to do this step. Anyway, I was thinking some spacers on the outside brackets
might make it fit better. Has anyone tried this??? Any suggestions??
Am I missing something here? Thanks!!

I have the one with the GMC cutout, and it fits just fine. I sure wouldn't want to chop my grille up to fit one though. Maybe you should get the one like I have? Pics on truck link in signature.

The reason I got the one w/o is because I got it cheap off of ebay. How is yours
mounted? I had a hard time seeing the mounting screws in your pictures. Mine
bows out considerably around the center...that's why I think some spacers on the sides
might make it better. BTW...VERY nice looking truck!!

Mine is mounted with 4 threaded "hooks" that grab behind the factory grille, and then allen-head stainless bolts that go thru the putco grille and into those hooks. The reason yours bows out is because of that area where the GMC emblem used to be - its still raised. Mine fits perfectly flat against the cross bars on the factory grille.

Hmmm...mine has eight of those threaded hooks. I wonder if I take out those extra
4 if it would fit better?? I'm gonna play with it some more on my lunch break
today.

BTW...I think I met you a few years ago at HRP when your Formula was near stock...it
was before you had the ram air hood...not sure of the other mods you had then. Anyway,
thanks for your comments and I'll post up when I find a solution.
