Exclamation any one do body work? paint?

well guys, my trucks a 97, and the paint....well its seen better days, and its getting worse and id like to get back to lookin new. and paint it one solid color, and add in a roll pan. i figure i have the patients to port and polish heads, than i can try some body work.

the body of my truck isnt that bad, but there are some dents and dings

in this pic, you can see the worst part, the door, the dude i bought it from, is wife rubbed a poll turnin in a parkin lot...
you can kinda see it in this picture

amd this one

theres some other small ones here and there, but the door is the worst part. tommorow ill snap some pics of some other issues.

so im lookin for tips, tricks, etc. how to go about straighting out the body.
id like to get all the body work done and spray it myself. im not sure on the color yet.

so for anyone that did a DIY paint job in your drive way, lend some adivce

Just takes lots of patience, and lots of time/prep. If you are looking to do the body work yourself, rough the areas up that need filler with some 80 grit... apply filler. Block sand / prime / block sand etc. Most of the truck looks pretty good, you will probably just need to scuff it up a little to accept primer, than 600 grit block sand before paint to make sure it's all smooth. Again, takes lots of time to do it right.

Correct, lots of patience, also you need to get some experience, so start out doing bondo on a small area and then you can throw a clear coat over it once your done sanding to see how you did, its very hard to tell how flat it is when theres no shine on it. Just practice on small areas and get to where you are happy with your work and continue on once you believe you have gotten the hang of that part of the restore
