Not true, Alot of the aftermarket brakes have more pistons for more even preasure aplied to the rotor. Whitch in turn stops better. The slots are good for street driving, because it adds grip when braking hard in an emergency. Cross drilling is said to weaken the rotor, I hear the slots are better for street driving. Autocross is a different story, That is constant braking and alot more heat. But for street, sloted rotors are the way to go.

Slots are mainly for wet performance I thought, and as far as holes, that increases air flow along with surface area to shed heat by.
There is also less rotating mass compared to a non-drilled rotor.
Look at almost 99% of all motorcycles and you will see even though the rotors do not have internal venting, they do have holes. Are they there just because the Japanese and other bike builders like to blow money drilling pretty holes?
Some aftermarket brakes are not for an all out performance gain, but a more consistent brake performance. You can get allot more out of the stock system with just a pad change, and some SS Braided lines. But the performance will not match a similar system with the same specs after the heatbuild up sets in and everything else in the stock system got hot.
Your teacher needs to go back to school.

The look is an added bonus when it comes to big drilled and slotted rotors, first and foremost they always perform better. Just test out a set for yourself and take your instructor along with you for the before and after....it might just surprise him.
