4/6 drop on my Z
#1
Well, I had a good amount of tile in back of my truck yesterday and saw that it was squating quite a bit, 2" to be exact. Looking at the rear that low kinda gave me a chubby and wished the front was equal....what do you guys think? would I have to get smaller tires? Im running 285/50/20's now. What would I do about the axle clearance? I was 1/2 in off my trimmed bumpstops. How would I get the rear lower? Hangars? The front I would need to find some spindles that accomodate the stock wheels too, alonf with a flip kit.

Here is a different pic with the 2/4

With a 4" drop in the front, what would that do to the drive angles? Tell me again why you're LOWERING a 4wd? I mean it looks good, but why not go with a 2wd if you're gonna lower it.

The rear lowers the same as a 2wd. For the front, the only things I know of are spindles and keys for the torsion bars. What are you using now to drop it? You may need to pm quicksilverz71 or gmracer as they both have 4wds and have lowered them a bit.
8MC, the lowest I have seen anyone go in the front is about 4" cause like you said, after that you have to be careful of your angles.

well, I am LOWERING a 4wd because I want to, and I can. lol
-I dont feel like spending $5000 on a lift and some nice wheels and tires.(I could build the 6.0 I have sitting in my garage for that
)
- I would like to have the 4wd, because I will use it. whether it be at the track or going snowboarding.
- I like the way lowered trucks look and I am more into performance than I am into wheelin'.
Sure it will affect the drive agles, but so will a lift. Its not like Im slamming it, it will be about the same hieght as a 2wd with a 2/4.
My current drop setup:
-2" shackles
-2" lift blocks removed and 2wd U-bolts
- Loosened the torsion bars and trimmed the bumpstops
I will probably be going with some hagars for the rear and spindles up front, along with a tie rod flip kit.

Nothing wrong with lowering a 4x4 if it sees mainly on road use. I have my Z71 lowered as well and am planning on going a couple more inches with it..
Looks great and even better a little lower, keep up the great work..
