Default 20's vs 22's, looks vs. performance

i recently replaced my 98 T/A with an 03 black ext cab and i want rims. i have already decided on some forged centerlines but am undecided on the size. 20's are cheaper and should handle better but i think they may look too small in the wheel wells even after 2" shackles in back. 22's would look better but cost twice as much for wheels/tires. i also contemplated 20's in front and 22's in back after seeing this combo on a few show cars on power tour 03 but think it might look silly on a truck, the price issue would apply in this scenario as well since tire rotations would be out. i would appreciate everyones thoughts and opinions on this.

On the subject of performance, one of the main reasons I sold my 20's was because of the weight. Just a few more $$$ and I'll be ordering some 18" B. Coddington Timeless 6's.

I agree with Onyx, the 20's look like they belong on the truck and fit nicely whereas 22's or bigger just look "too big" IMO.

22 will slow you down a lot. This happened to my friend's 02 Esky. Not that it was fast to begin with but it was a very noticeable difference.

If I could do it again, I would get 18's cause my 20's slowed me down a little, and they are real low to the ground, and I fear every corner and curb now for damage. I went into a drive in carwash as usual, but this time it marred the chrome on one rim, and put a small chip in another. I paid $450 per rim on my truck, and I am pissed to no end on the damage. If I had one more inch of sidewall, I would have never come close. I know I got a sports truck, but man, I still want to be able to use it like a truck, but its hard when you are so conciouse of your rims and suspension.

Hey Jsmith, do me a favor and weigh your wheels and tires before you put em on, I wanna see the weight diff between some 18" timeless 6's and 20's.

even 20s suck at performance. Not quite enough sidewall, and they weigh alot. I noticed ALOT of difference between my stockers and the 20s. However, i would seriously recommend you look into weld evo. Their 22 inch velociti series weight 32 pounds, a wheel, which is the same amount as a stock ford truck rim. Something to concider.
