Guys, I just called Mcgaughys and they said their deluxe 2/4 drop(drop spindles, hangers, shackles) is designed to use the stock shocks and already has the pinion angle modified in the hangers and shackles. So, no axle shims are required. To be able to use the stock shocks will save $100. Plus, the kit is only $384. Seems to good to be true. They do have a patent on their shackles and have several years of R&D.

If you are still on stock wheels, they will not fit with the McGaughy's spindles. If you've got 18's or up, go with them, they are a quality piece.

17" or larger
if using the stock 16" wheels - have to use the ball joint relo kit
which requires drilling out the lower ball joint rivets - PIA
Why I went with coils
Did both fronts under 2 hours.

BTW, I like your web site alot. Nice, clean truck!
Wow, I figured I was gonna have rubbing issues with my 285/50's. Maybe I wont. Thanks for the compliment, your turck will look good with the drop. Im gonna get some better shorter tires before I drop mine. Im gonna go for the McG spindles for a 17+ wheel. Just seems a better route to me the more I think about it.

I had to grind the threads off on the lower balljoints to make the McGaughy drop spindle setup clear my 17" wheels. No problems other than that,I'm running the Deluxe kit on my Tahoe with no complaints at all.

Sweet deal! I might have to look more into that setup. I have some 17" Esky wheels that I might put on the truck this weekend, so those will work with that drop kit.

Mac8, you won't need to use a carrier bearing kit?

On a ECSB you will need a carrier brg relo kit

Witt is also right - on 17" you will have to trim the lower ball joint

Leonard,

That's a good question and something I overlooked. Maybe someone will answer that for us. When I called Mcgauphys I asked if there was anything else needed to do the drop and they didn't mention the carrier bearing. Who sells them?

Does anyone have pics with extend a cabs lowered 2/4?

McGaughy's sells the kit for $52. I went to their website and they have a price list on there.

Sorry misread your post. Here is an ecsb with a 2/4 drop & 18s
