Default '00 Z71 center console latch problems

I have a '00 Z71 that has recently developed a problem with the latch assembly of the center console and would like to know the fix. I have lubed the latch and it is still very difficult to open and it takes a sharp blow to the area of the latch that used to easily open with finger pressure. Is this easy to replace as I can't see how to fix the damn thing. Thanks.

There is an angled slide that is between the button & the latch. That's what you have to lube. I think I got to it by using the red "straw" that comes w WD40. I had one that was nearly impossible to open, lubed it & it was like new.I have a brand new ebony console from an 03 for sale because I didn't find this out in time. Let me know if it worked!!

My 03 did the dame thing. I see it's a common issue on some of the other Chevy Truck boards. I took mine back to the dealer for the steering fix and they ordered me a new console as well. (Warranty). They can't just replace the latch, so the whole thing is yanked. Good luck.

Are you talking about the flip down center console, or the console for bucket seats? Might be interested if it for buckets and has everything to install it.
