Default vortec max vs SRT 10 quad cab

My brother raced his truck agains't his friends brand new SRT 10 and only lost by 1.5 trucks. I thought they were supposed to be really fast. All he has is a Texas Speed Dyno tune. Maybe he has a freak or something because I cant beat him without spray even with all of my mods.

In a word? Variables.

There are just too many reasons this could be close. First and foremost, the quadcab SRT10 is usually a low 14 second truck and not a streetmonster. Even if all the power and torque of a Viper is underhood, those trucks can't beg good traction on a regular road.

Those SRT10 QC aren't that impressive. I raced won and beat him by a bumper and I ran with 22's on.

QC SRT's are a waste IMO....a viper would be slow too if it weighed a million pounds

o well all i have heard from people about the stock ones is that if you are going to do it, go reg. cab but im sure with all that tq, a street race would be hard to tell the truth about since nothing close to full throttle would be good for the tires

If you raced him on the road, and he was driving around for a while, he was probably heat soaked. Those trucks can drop upwards of a full second in the 1/4mile from heat soak. A common problem for Vipers too, that big V10 makes way to much heat. When cold and with a good driver a QC srt-10 will be able to pull off a 13.5 stock.

A good tune, headers, exhaust and a CAI would probably get one into the 12's.

i saw a reg. cab srt-10 at my local track last year. he was completely stock except for 22inch wheels (which makes him slower) and he was running consistant 13.4's

i like the image the truck has. but to me its just way too overrated. i would still pick a bowtie SS over that truck. to me the JG silverado is a way better truck
