I was in my friends truck last night cruising down I-10 about 1am and ran up on a red single cab new body style. Myfriend has a 5.3 GMC with k and n intake. We went from a 40 roll and he pulled about a car and at about 100 my friends speed limiter kicked in but the red truck kept going. Does the new body style not have a speed limiter

 

he probably has a tune or a handheld

 

Yes they have the annoying 98mph speed limiter

It was a real clean red truck with 20's or something on it. He had a big ARD sticker on it. my friend doesnt have a programmer or tune so i guess that is why it kept going. His truck sounded good

 

1- you must have a VERY dumb friend for him letting you borrow his truck and you drive it like that...

and 2- Yes stock speed limiters suck. Tell him keep modding, intake alone wont cut it

That truck has a cammed 4.8l from what i know when i was at their shop last time in May 09. It is driven by one of the guys that works in the shop there. It has nitrous on it also from what i was told.

He told me it made 500 something HP on gas on the dyno... don't know how true that is though

 

maybe he does make 500 hp who knows he could be running the big jets
