Default Just ran a cobalt ss

And wow was I surprised...

I was minding my business driving home and a bunch of cars race past me, so I jump on it and catch up to them. Next stop light I ask if I can tag along for a while, and they immediately oblige cause I'm in my "stock" silverado
Long story short, toasted all of them, which included a cobalt ss supercharged at 20psi, a modded 300c and modded mitsubishi 3000. We pull over and chat about my truck for a bit, and they pulled in a friend of theirs in a turbo cobalt ss to race me since it hasn't lost to anything since he got it. They kept us both in the dark about each others mods.
Skipping forward, we agree on a 40 roll, and the turbo cobalt wastes me by like 3 car lengths instantly. After that he isn't pulling on me any more, and I let off at like 90. First thought: holy ****! Did not expect that! We pull up to the next light and I tell him his car is fast as hell. He wants to go from a dig now, so as soon as the light turns green, I (carefully) lay down a **** load of torque in front of his cobalt. Now I am in front by a couple car lengths We let off at about 75 due to some cop activity ahead.
But that was a hell of a surprise! I had no idea that cobalt was so quick! We exchanged phone numbers so I'll have to get more info on his build later. Guess if you put a little work into those cobalts they make one hell of a roll race car lol.
The whole group was pretty cool too. Turns out they all went to the same high school I did but just graduated a few years later.

I definitely need a meth kit ASAP!

Them ecotech motors are no joke. I remember reading about a professional drag racer that pushed his ecotech to about 4,000hp. Of course at that point I don't think it's an ecotech anymore but still, they are really strong blocks for what they are and what they can do. Sounds like it was a fun night.

I have a friend with a Cobalt Turbo annd he has a bunch of crap done to it, like meth, dual tune, 25psi, etc. Beat my brothers Chevelle with a heads/cam 5.3, 3500 stall, and 3.73's. Those cars pull hard up top!

Here's the re-build for my Fiance's HHR SS. Stock turbo is still in. Only replacements are inter-cooler (2x's size of OEM), and pulled all plastic pipping for 3 in stainless. They tested up to 24 psi but that wasn't a good idea b/c the pipping put a slight dent in the hood from the inside out. So the boost is turned down to 20psi. I have to admit these Ecotecs can push. Oh there's the tune...

I'm sure he's got more up his sleeve.

His car was a manual transmission so the only launch control he'd have is a light right foot, am I wrong? Don't know a whole lot about those cars.
I wasn't expecting much from this car because of how easy it was to beat his friends cars. So I was still in OD when we punched it from a roll. He put most of the length on me while the tranny was downshifting, but in that split second his car was moving. If we were to do it again I'd put it in second gear and then see what happens. In fact thats probably why I had no issue taking him from a dig, cause I wasn't waiting for the shift lol.

Sounds like fun.. I had a turbo one mess with me a lil bit back, we went from a 50 roll, I let him get the jump, I was surprised, as he jumped me by a half of truck, I had to reel it back in. Just like you, It surprised the **** out of me.. Def no jokes

Cobalts have a 2 step from the factory except they call it "launch control".

Well launch control or not, he was no match from a dig lol. Killer from a roll though. If I had been expecting that I would definitely have downshifted before. Then he wouldn't have pulled away
