Default Just got back............

Got to race 2 different people.
First- Lightning- pulley, diablo, exhaust. We ran 3 times, I lost 3 times. We ran probably close to or over 1/4 mile each time, and every time I got him until the very end. On the last run he got me by 2, the other 2 were only 1/2-1.

Second- 4.6 Mustang GT- OR H pipe, Cat back, pulleys, Throttle Body, Cold air, and a few other things. We ran once in the factories near here. I let him do the three honks. We were even for the first 30 ft or so, then I got about 2 cars on him because he was spinning pretty bad. He also caught me at the very end.

I realize that aero comes in more at the top, but it seems like I am losing in 3rd every time I know there are varying opinions, but I think I am going to have my truck programed to NOT lock up in 3rd.
Not a bad night overall, wife was mad that I got back at 3 am though, but she'll get over it.

lol! good deal! sounds like a great time.

I also ran a 4.6 mustang the other night we stayed even but I had the feeling if we had the room for my 2-3 shift I'd have him.

Have your tuner check the delay time on your 3rd gear lockup. It took about 6 passes down the track to get mine right. (My freind owns a shop and tunes my truck at the track) I think my lockup delay is around 2.75 secs. Yours may need to be a bit longer to keep the revs up long enough to sustain that heavy bitch. I was making about 570rwhp at the time.

Yeah, I may do that. Even my friend said I lost all 3 races to the lightning after the 2-3 shift and that it felt like it was slowing down. He wsa hitting 3rd before me, I could hear that. He was gaining a little in his second gear, but as sonn as I hit 3rd it was like I slowed down. He went from about 1 car back to 1 car ahead after my 2-3 shift.

It could be that the converter is locking at that mph regardless of what tps your at I dont lock the converter at all in third when wot. Some people swear it takes of 1/10 to lock it at the end of the quarter.

What sort of times are you runnin?

with a turbo and nitrous i have seen .1-.2 ET reduction locking the converter about 4800rpm in 2nd gear and keeping it locked till the end of the run. both nitrous and a turbo make a ton of midrange torque. a procharger makes better power up top so locking may not help.
