Default How beat an SRT4?

My buddy has an SRT4 Neon. The Mods that i know he has is as followed: 3 inch single exhaust, boost controller, and Tires. He claim's to run Mid to high 12's in the Quarter Mile and he plans on doing nothing else to the car.

I have about $6000 to work with. I do know about the search option but i just want to get some mixed ideas.

I have a 2000 5.3 RCSB with 3.23. It's Totally stock. This truck will never see the track. It's my DD and i haul things every now and then. I'm going to invest more in the truck when i get the funds but I just want to build in my head before i start spending, but for now if you were in my shoes how would u spend 6k?

to be in the 12's, you will need a cam, maybe a 220/220 or a 224/224 cam, in which case you will need upgraded valve springs and pushrods, long tube headers, exhaust, intake, 3.73 or 4.10 gears, at least a 3000 stall, 3200 would be better, a tune, and a little weight reduction, all of that should fall somewhere between 2000 to 3000 dollars depending on what brand parts and if new or used

There is absolutely no way he is running high 12's with that combo unless he's dropped 1,200lbs in weight. A lot of my buddies have SRT-4's and believe me, it takes more than those mods to run 12's on DR's. I could easily see mid 13's however; if the driver is skilled.

thats definitely what i would start with.....and theres no way that car is in 12's with exhaust and tires......they run high 13's from the factory.

Ummm...6000 grand could buy you a decent FI system. STS bottom line or SC top end could definetly fit within that budget.

That's what i thought!! He claims to run high 12's but i was thinking more in the line of 13's. He is not a very skilled driver at that.
