well 2 weeks ago i got my truck used it has a 4.8 3.23 20 inch rims and cowl the truck is an 05 yeah i tried to get a new 05 but the dealer was tyrin to **** me. well anyway my friend has 5.9 r/t quadcab(yea he bought it like that) well he has the basic bolt ons intake headers chip etc. well we leaving the dealer i already wanted to try the truck out so i challenged him to a dual we did a 0-100 i took him on take off at about 40 hes on me then just flies bye now i aint used to losin to him cause i had a 5.3 with basic bolt ons well i lost. so then we went to my other friends house telling him that i just got beat and he couldnt believe well then he wants to race so we go to our"testing spot" ok well this a 1.8 jetta stick nothin to just a messed up front end that he aint got fixed in 1 year well he i didnt even stand a chance with him i mean wtf i took my lose knowing that ill kick both there asses whrn i get my bolt ons ill get back to yall on my new wins ill c if one of them will video it for me

 

Don't sweat it, that 1.8T Volkswagon motor is pretty mean. Those Jettas make great sleepers. I know a few guys that have em and just a chip on an otherwise stock 1.8T GTI will run pretty close to my truck!

 

No Quad Cab R/Ts, though they could be had with 5.9s with a lil lower power than an R/T (245/335 instead of 250/345). They are heavy SOBs though.

 

Oh, and if ya pulled him outta the hole he probably only has 3.55s and/or an open rear end (or he just spun badly). A 5.9 with 3.92s and suregrip should get out of the hole WAAAAAY harder than a 4.8 with 3.23 gears.

 

nope it is with 3.92 everything like a regurlar rt we went to the dealer they said yep it was an rt with the same stuff has a regular rt

 

I had no trouble with my roommates extended cab rt when my truck had the 4.8L with exhaust and superchips programmer. The rt sounded good, but it just didn't run like I expected it would stock, especially to have the 5.9L in it.

 

Ya.. stock 4.8L just dont have the torque... i know from experience

 

Yeah I think he's right. R/T's only available in extended and reg cab. They did offer the 5.9 in a quad cab and maybe you can set it up similar to a R/T, the gear and such but it can't be a real R/T.

And with equal driver's and a good running R/T, sorry but a 4.8 stock or light modded wouldn't have a chance......
