OK, I'm late to the thread. As you've already read - R/Ts run low 15s stock and you can make them into 10 second screamers with enough parts. I've got both an R/T and a 4.7 sport. Both can be made to run - but the R/T has about 10 times the aftermarket support. There's already a "recipe" for making the 360/408's fly. I had to make up my own stuff to make the 4.7 go. I'm very partial to boost, but you can get there on the bottle also. I plan on getting some 10-second timeslips from my this year, and who knows - the 4.7 just might squeek into the 11's also.

Turbo'd 4.7 going down the track:

My RC R/T weighs 3920# with a fiberglass front bumper, lightweight hood, rollpan instead of rear bumper and mechanical cooling fan removed and electric fan in it's place. Nothing "cut", just replaced with lighter parts except for the supercharger and air/water intercooler and water tank.

My 4.7 CC Sport weighs 4300#, nothing removed really and with heavier R/T wheels and the turbo system including air/water intercooler and water tank.

Neither truck has had anything "cut".

the 360ci is great for strength too my friend with the r/t sure did put that engine through hell. he was able to crack a head in 5000 miles on a brand new motor.

good luck with what you get iwannaraceaz28 but the dakota is one hell of a good truck and fast to boot. nice video Duner and awesome times too.
