the r/t stock ran in the low 15s and only came with the 360ci or 5.9 motor and auto trans. i personally prefer the 5.2 or 318ci this motor is much more reliable and only had 20hp less. i have a 318ci club cab dakota auto 2wd with open diff and 3.55s and with just exhaust and a home made CAI it ran a 15.8 1/4. keep in mind that this truck has a 153,000 miles and was still on the stock ignition. the dakota also came with the 4.7 or 287ci sohc motor which preforms real close to the 360ci or better. these trucks have tons of mods out there for them and will run 12s down the 1/4 as long as you drop some weight. the trucks weigh between 4000lbs and 5100lbs so they need that v8 to move them. my friend is selling his r/t with a s/c @9boost shift kit and edelbrock performer heads not sure of the price. my other friend just sold his r/t for $5,800 it had 130,000miles on it and was stock. so you can find these trucks for cheap but some have been through hell and back.

Stock a club cab can run mid to low 15's, a regular cab low 15's to high 14's. They are defiantly capable of 11's, some have run in the 10's with a lot of work. You can pick up a higher mileage 98 or 99 R/T for probably 6k if you look around, newer trucks will of course cost more. All R/T's (with the exception of the new 06 R/T) came with 5.9L V8's, rear wheel drive, and and automatic.

A few parts sites off the top of my head:
www.socaldakota.com
www.krcperformance.com
www.gsmotorsports.com
www.thefastman.com
www.apsprecision.com/

Search around R/T's for sale all the time and lots are going quite cheap.

The 5.9 (360) is a much better motor than the 318 to mod and thats what we really want it for. Endless parts out there for them.

My Supercharged 03 R/T will be in the 11's finally this year. But is has taken a lot of work to get it there.

No but converting the 360 to a 408 is quite simple. Basically just a crank size change. I went into the motor to forge it up so I decided to stroke it out at the same time. I never made the track last year as I spent the whole summer getting the engine built and resolving a fuel starvation issue as well.

This winter/early spring I am upping the cam and fully porting the heads. As well resolving my belt slipping issue. My garage is looking at cogging the belt drive.

You can buy a complete kit off of vendors but easy to piece it togther yourself and save a few bucks.

Yep 11's are happening this year :-)
