some of us know how this works.

It's not Dave's fault and this converter would be stellar for a lot of people. I just happen to think I could use something tighter. I make great power from 3500-4000 and I just dont get to take advantage of it. Because of that there is a bit of a delay in making boost. The PD blowers make boost amazingly fast, but they do require a load on the motor to do so.

Despite what some want to claim, street trucks (full weight ec/cc) pushing this kind of power is fairly uncharted territory. And I'd imaging a lot of the data that's used to spec'ing these converters is based on cars, light cars. So it doesn't surprise me they are on the looser side. Hell, my CircleD is overly loose and probably costing me MPH on the top end but I recognize that not getting it perfect on the first try is part of the game here. That's why they offer a free restall.

Exactly. And My last post was not aimed at you... nor was yours aimed at me I dont think. We happen to understand that dynamic and just how new 700ish HP at over 5000 lbs is. Seems that some of the newer members loose sight of that.

What makes it even more challenging for me is I need the converter to hit very quickly and at low RPM to take advantage of the superchargers tq curve. While yours may cost you some MPH I think you would be surprised (hopefully) at just how efficient it is at higher RPM. For instance, I see only 275RPM of converter slip at 6400 RPM.

Something to think of as well....converter slip is also based on gearing...and just about all trucks are geared wrong for the track

Mine is geared perfect for my 28" tires, or so I thought. I cross the line over 6k and my redline isnt much higher. As I build more power I will only come closer and closer to my max RPM and speed right as I cross the line. Not to mention that my tire size has very little effect on my flash speed if any.

A 4L80e with stock gearing, 4.10's and a 28" radial I don't think is "wrong" in my case. If you do, do you care to share what would be right?

Was speaking in general especially for person above with Turbo setup

Gearing won't effect flash but does effect slip in high gear
Too high of gear and slip will increase ...low gear and converter will tighten up

In your case with a PD blower you want to take more advantage of your powerband so lower would help ya more then loose

If had centrifugal a 4200 be sweet spot

Everything is about keeping the motor in the best part of the powerband for the longest amount of time. My gearing is fairly optimal with the 29.5" tires, however, the converter isn't quite right. I could test this out by simply locking it up in 3rd next time I'm at the track. And George, clarify if you are talking about gearing numerically. To me, "high gear" is a low numeric number.

Crazy. The reason i ask is i wonder what mine is gonna do with the upgrades i have planned. I love my yank it is rather tight at 14psi it holds pretty nicely. Then again i am about 1000lbs lighter
