Tada. Mostly success. It's tight but it will go in. Nothing a little grinding on the receiver won't fix.

The spacers in their home. Note how close to the pan the hitch is.

Tips look pretty sweet, looks like you pulled them in some, or just the different angle of the pictures.

I personally would rather have a tight fit, then grind (if it is anything to do with the shaft). I can't stand slack in the hitch when your towing. I am considering putting a new hitch on my Suburban. It has alot of play from the previous owner.

as for a stand for where to put your tailgate fab up a little stand out of sheet metal & put it on top of a table or some saw horses or you could get some rope & tie it to one end of your garage rails & then the other end to the top corner of the tailgate & do the same on the other side & just have it hanging in the middle of your garage & spray it like that...either way after reading every page in your how-to on the hood...i'm sure it will come out beautiful...just get that pre-cancer taken care of under your bed!!!!!!

Yes, I've done enough painting now that I feel pretty comfortable with that. Worried about getting the body work right. I'm going to have to use some filler to get it smooth. Worried about that.

The tips are in the same place. The hitch is tight to the receiver and will stay that way. The grinding I'm talking about is to the top of the drop J piece. Take some off it to get it to clear the bottom of the plate.

Good idea on hanging the tailgate. Yep plan on spending a day or two under the truck cleaning up the failing undercoating.
