ok lets get caught up on the build.

so on my initial tune i ran out of fuel pump when trying to run boost higher than the spring pressure so a second fuel pump was in order. i bought a junkyard fuel bucket to modify and ordered 2 new 450's and started working on putting these together. the 99-03 buckets are a very tight fit for the walbro 450's , they had to be staggered to get them to fit side by side. i ended up clearing out EVERYTHING inside the bucket to make room and just squeezed them down in there.

the plan was to build a second separate harness for the second pump. i decided to run the power wires through the factory fuel hat connector and run the grounds separately.

i used the existing connectors that came wired to the fuel pumps and just swapped them so one connector had the grounds and one had the power.

drilled new hole for the stud that will be used for the ground wires

I wanted to run two holley hydramat fuel filter socks so i needed to figure out a way to be able to run both. they are very large and needed one to attach below the other. with the pumps being staggered i needed to figure out to extend the fuel pump inlet . i found some parts that were made to do exactly that. made the extension and was able to plumb everything together.

was able to build the harness exactly the way i drew it out in the diagram. built a separate harness for the second pump that is triggered by my eboost2 at a specified boost psi. then i made an intermediate harness that connected both of the power harnesses into the top of the fuel hat. i used the exact same connections on both so that i could swap the main and secondary pumps power around. my thoughts were that if my main pump fails , i could just swap the connectors (i have them accessible from under the truck with no tools required) and use the other pump as the main pump.

now i had to figure out how to install it solo. saw lots of people just tilting the bed so i tried this out. i kept my heavy bed topper on and made this step more difficult than it should have, took a few tries to get the piece of wood in there but i got it! **** was heavy.

and now got the pump installed, harness wired up and loom around the wires

while i was doing a bunch of wiring i decided to upgrade the charging system wiring in the engine compartment. i upgraded the grounds and the power to the alt with some nice 0awg wire. i have added several electrical devices (fans, fuel pumps, gauges, maybe stereo later) and this will help keep a steady 14 volts when all these are drawing from the system. this made a big difference in my previous truck where my focus was an large aftermarket high power stereo system so figured it would help me in this truck too.

at this point everything is installed and i just need to figure out how to test the new pump. with my swappable harness i simply just fired the truck up using both pumps but then i needed to figure out how to test the second pump turning on utilizing the AUX trigger on the eboost2 controller. i decided to buy some air fittings and hook up to my BOV boost reference line and plug that into an air compressor. i set my controller to trigger the second pump at 1 psi . test worked and second pump was wired up correctly so ready to bolt the truck together and take it to get re-tuned for high boost!!

as soon as i bolted the bed back down i was already running a bit late for my dyno so i booked it to the dyno and ended up putting down 598/553 on 12psi with e54

earlier in the week these came in the mail!

also bought the 15" disc conversion brackets and suggested parts from 1320 wheels so now its time to get some rubber so i can actually run at the track

pulled the rotors off and realized you have to pull the axle out to remove the parking brake! did not know this . i had no idea how to pull the axle out so had to do some internet reading and finally figured it out...

had some troubles bleeding the brakes but found out that i put the calipers on the wrong sides so the bleeder valve was pointing down when it should have been pointing up. swapped them and bleeding the system worked first try

its now 9pm on saturday night before the track event and finally ready to rock!

Did not know what to expect . First pass i forgot to push the 'high boost ' button so it ran on gate spring pressure (made about 8psi) and ran a 12.8x @ 108mph with like a 2.1 60ft or so

Was able to shave over a second off this time later in the afternoon!

best run was 11.69 @ 117 with 1.88 60'. it was 107 degrees out! so it was not ideal!

won a trophy and some cash for having the 'closest to 12.00' run with a run i hit 11.999

cant wait to practice getting my 60' down and running in cooler weather!

my first run with a shitty 60' on high boost setting i hit a 12.04 or something and was ecstatic that i was going to be able to hit 11's. I was actually thinking that i was going to be running mid 12's but almost hitting mid 11's was the actual outcome! was pretty stoked to cut my 60's down a bit .

and the aftermath! next time i will be taping this area up

need to practice my launching. i started to push through my front brakes so i want to upgrade my front brakes (they need new ones anyways) and hopefully this will let me brake stall it a bit higher...

cant wait until next time the track is open (especially after summer when its cooler out!) and see if i can get get low 11's! i still cant believe i hit 11's

Trucks looking good man. Any chance you have the part number on the hose and the fittings for the hydromat and pumps?

Looks like a lot of good progress! A common swap is to the 04+ returnless tank since the bucket is much larger, something to keep in mind.

Great job at the track! You should swap to hydroboost and you wont have problems pushing through your brakes.

Nice idea with the Holley hydramat. I think the hydramat is a great alternative to the 04+ returnless tank/ bucket. On my '05, I've noticed if I have less than ~ 1/3 tank, and I go boosted 4wd launch, my fuel pressure drops. The tank slosh is enough to empty out the larger bucket. Dual Wally 450's suck A LOT of fuel especially in an ethanol setup. If I'm doing 4wd launches I always make sure to have 3/4 tank. or more. Zero issues since. 1/2 tank would probably be fine but why risk it.

How come you didn't upgrade the feed line size to 8AN? I suppose if you don't plan on making over 600whp it's probably not needed.

The necessity of hydroboost is on a truck-to-truck basis. I think maybe the drum brake rear trucks hold better at the line than the disc brake trucks, although that could be a function of the larger 05+ front brakes. I just finished converting mine to hydroboost for no other reason than I had the unit/ pedal laying around, I was bored, and I was curious how it would improve the brakes. It definitely improved the brakes no doubt about it. But ultimately if you're spinning on your current launch boost levels, hydroboost won't help you. There is a local guy around here that has built two 9 sec turbo trucks and he swears by the vacuum booster. He footbrakes to 1.4x 60 ft's consistently.

Nice job on 11s, sounds like they came pretty easy for you. I ran almost identical ET and mph my first time at the track also. You'll be running 10's in no time with a couple more psi, cooler weather, and better 60ft.

you talking the extension i made that attaches to the filter and the inlet of the pump? or any and all hoses that i used?

well dont need to do this now now that i have both pumps installed already. ive seen enough examples online showing that they will fit in 99-03 buckets that i did not think a tank swap was necessary.

i did not have a need to upgrade the stock fuel lines so those stayed. if i ever make more power then maybe ill do this if needed.

my front brakes need to be replaced at the moment regardless of racing so im just going to upgrade the replacements for now and see if this helps a bit. if i am still not happy i will look into other options like hydroboost or wire up a transbrake or similar...

dont see 10's in the near future because i do not plan on upping the boost . im on a gen3 sbe so if i push it further i am getting further into the unknown and could blow it up. i do not want to do an engine swap anytime soon...

so at the track i was checking my eboost as it records the highest boost psi it sees and i never saw anything higher than 11.1 so it never hit 12~12.5 as i was expecting.. should run better in cooler weather. i was able to get a 1.80 60' on one of the runs so i think with a bit more practice and new brakes in the front i should be able to see a 1.7x (or better?) 60' and that may set me down in the 11.5x range .. we will see

but for now brakes are the only thing major left on the list . glad to be almost done building so i can start driving it!

With those tires, Cal-Tracs, and power no reason you can't 60ft low 1.6x consistently.

Just from the filter to the inlet of the pump
